Red’s Masterclass is a series of advanced painting classes aimed at miniature painters who are looking to take their models to the next level.

This first class will focus on how we ‘Draw the Eye’ as painters.

Have you ever looked at your favourite painter’s work and been drawn into the piece in such a way that you can’t quite put your finger on it? You’re using the same techniques and skills, but can’t quite seem to capture that last magic unspoken aspect that pulls you in? Then this is the class for you. Your instructor Daniel J. Schneider, the judge of Red’s Choice and fantasy illustrator, will discuss the many ways in which we as painters can control how our models and armies get viewed by an audience.

This is an advanced technique used by artists to ensure that their audience focuses their attention on the details of the piece that you as the artist want them to focus on. This class is aimed at those painter’s looking to level up their paint jobs, whether for miniature painting competitions or for best presentation armies. Dan will discuss the various ways we ‘Draw the Eye’ and how they can be used in your own pieces. There will be hands on applications of the techniques discussed during the class to help you best learn the lesson’s of this Red’s Masterclass.

Daniel J. Schneider has been an art instructor for 16 years, teaching various art classes. He is also the resident Red Claw paint expert, hosting Hobby Hangout every Tuesday, our Date Night Paint Nights, and the Red’s Choice painting contests.
