Jael Umerah-Makelemi is a self-taught illustrator and art director based in London. After completing her art & design foundation course at The University of Creative Arts in 2017, she began her career as a graphic designer and later transitioned into illustration. She started Nubiart (her design studio) as she wanted to create art that represents women like her. Jaels art aims to not only celebrate black women, but shed light on the issues that they often face. She also uses her art to talk about mental health & promote self-care.
Jael recently joined the Converse All Stars community where she uses the Converse platform to drive change within my community. She is currently taking art classes with OC Art Studios and plans on exploring the world of animation
